Welcome

In order to help my son Chris who is battling osteosarcoma bone cancer, from now until mid-October, all wine has been reduced to the special delivered price of $29.99 with all proceeds going towards his care.  His father Peter, owner of Finish Line Wine, intends to push Chris in a stroller in the Grand Rapids Marathon, Oct 17th, to help raise funds for him.  Please read his story at http://www.supportteamchris.com/.

According to myth, Pheidippides, the Greek messenger, ran from the battle of Marathon to Athens to deliver the news of the Greek defeat of the Persians. Upon arriving in Athens, accounts claim he said: “Rejoice, we conquer,” then promptly fell down dead.

To run a marathon or half marathon is no easy feat. The distance is 26.2 and 13.1 miles, respectively. Regardless if you are a professional athlete or a weekend warrior, one must be properly trained. The marathon gods do not favor any particular gender, age, race, color or profession. We are all equal in their eyes and we all must pay proper respect to the distance in order to finish. And all who do finish belong to a unique club that is acknowledged by an unspoken camaraderie whose powerful bond of belonging transcends our physical and mental accomplishment.

So, to acknowledge your incredible achievement of training and finishing either a full or half marathon, Finish Line Wine would like to offer you a bottle of 26.2 or 13.1 fine wine personalized with your name and finish time as well as the name and date of your marathon and race organization logo. Our wines will allow you to remember your awesome finish as well as to enjoy with your friends and family. The wines I select are made for runners: balanced, intelligent, and full of life and character. May the wind always be at your back!

“The genuine marathoner is a rare breed indeed: half athlete and half poet; part rock-bottom pragmatist and part sky-high idealist; completely, even defiantly individual and yet irrevocably joined to a select group almost tribal in its shared rituals and aspirations.”
Joel Homer, Marathons: The Ultimate Challenge

For all of us, the miracle isn’t that we finish, the miracle is that we have the courage to start.”
John “The Penguin” Bingham, The Courage to Start
